The trustees of Penn State University on Monday appealed the NCAA sanctions agreed to by school president Rodney Erickson, according to sources.

Joe Paterno’s Family Asks For “Open” Appeals Hearing
The family of Penn State’s late head football coach Joe Paterno has requested that the NCAA hold an “open hearing” before an appeals committee on the Penn State sanctions. The NCAA put the school under heavy sanctions after it was determined officals at the university did nothing to handle child sex allegations against former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky.

Wisconsin Running Back Assaulted In Madison
Wisconsin running back Montee Ball was the victim of an assault in Madison Tuesday night. Ball was released from the hospital after being treated for a concussion and facial injuries.No timetable has been set for his return.
University Of Central Florida Banned From Playing In The Post Season
The University of Central Florida received a 1-year football bowl game and men’s basketball tournament ban, Tuesday due to recruiting violations and a lack of institutional control. Central Florida will leave Conference USA for the Big East in 2013-2014.
Penn State Banned From Playing In Big Ten Title Game
The Big Ten Conference has banned Penn State University from it’s football conference title game for the next 4 years, to run concurrent with the NCAA bowl and postseason ban.
NCAA Punishes Penn State
The NCAA handed down penalties Monday morning for Penn State. The penalties include a $60 million fine, the equivalent of a year’s earnings from the football program. The school must also serve a 4-year bowl and postseason ban. Victories from the seasons of 1998-2011 will be vacated. Penn State will also lose scholarships for the next 4 years. Penn State’s athletic program will be on probation for 5 years. Players currently on the team will be allowed to transfer and play at other schools immediately.

The NCAA will announce it’s punishment for Penn State Monday morning at 9 AM. A source says the NCAA will punish the school with ‘corrective and punitive’ sanctions as a result of the Jerry Sandusky child sex scandal.

The statue of Hall of Fame Penn State coach Joe Paterno was taken down Sunday morning from outside of Beaver Stadium.
