T.O. Back In The National Football League

Wide receiver Terrell Owens is back in the National Football League after coming to terms with the Seattle Seahawks on a contract. Owens is second all time in receiving yards. Owens missed all of last season because of no interest from any NFL teams. He did however have a stint playing football for an indoor football league team last season.

Kings Give Keith Smart Contract Extension

The Sacromento Kings have signed head coach Keith Smart to a 1-year contract extension that will run through the 2013-2014 season. The Kings went 20-39 under Smart last season which was shorten due to the player lockout.

Jaguars And 5th Overall Pick Agree To Terms On Contract

The Jacksonville Jaguars and wide receiver Justin Blackmon have reached an agreement on a 4-year, $19.5 million deal. The Jaguars selected Blackmon in the first round of April’s draft with the 5th overall pick. 

Replacement Officals To Work Hall Of Fame Game

Replacement referees will work Sunday’s Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. The refs and the league haven’t been able to come to terms on a new agreement.

Cubs Deal Dempster To Rangers

The Texas Rangers have acquired pitcher Ryan Dempster from the Chicago Cubs for minor league 3rd basemen Christian Villanueva and pitcher Kyle Hendricks.

San Francisco Giants Trades For Hunter Pence

The San Francisco Giants have acquired outfielder Hunter Pence from the Philadelphia Phillies for outfielder Nate Schierholtz and minor league catcher Tommy Joseph.

Maurice Jones-Drew Won’t Report To Training Camp

Sources are reporting that Maurice Jones-Drew who still has 2 years left on his playing contract, will not report to Jacksonville Jaguars training camp Thursday. Jones-Drew is seeking a new contract.

Hamels Agrees To New Deal To Remain In Philadelphia

According to sources, pitcher Cole Hamels and the Philadelphia Phillies have agreed on a new 6-year, $140 million contract extension.

NCAA Punishes Penn State

The NCAA handed down penalties Monday morning for Penn State. The penalties include a $60 million fine, the equivalent of a year’s earnings from the football program. The school must also serve a 4-year bowl and postseason ban. Victories from the seasons of 1998-2011 will be vacated. Penn State will also lose scholarships for the next 4 years. Penn State’s athletic program will be on probation for 5 years. Players currently on the team will be allowed to transfer and play at other schools immediately.

Penn State Received Over $200 Million Dollars In Donations

Penn State received more than $208 million in donations in the last fiscal year despite the university going through a child sex abuse scandal. The total was the second most ever raised in the school’s history.

Boise State Beats Midnight Deadline To Leave Mountain West

Boise State beat a midnight deadline to leave the Mountain West Conference. The school is on track to join the Big East in football in 2013.
